Our thanks to everyone who gave toys and donations as part of our Christmas toy drive. Your efforts ensured a brighter Christmas for a few lucky Dallas-area children and their families. And a special thank you to Exodus Ministries for their help as well.

As 2008 comes to a close, we would like to wish each and everyone of you a safe and happy holiday season. May Santa bring you everything you asked for and may it be the right size and color.

Please join us on Friday, December 5th, from 7:00-10:00pm at Lift Lounge (2404 Cedar Springs in Uptown) for our annual Christmas Toy Drive!

This year, we will be partnering with Exodus Ministries to collect toys for Dallas-area children. As part of this, we are asking that each of you bring at least one new and unwrapped toy to the event (if you are unable to bring a toy, we will also accept cash or check donations). Your efforts will ensure that some lucky children will wake up to a truly special Christmas morning.

These are exciting times we live in. Banks are magically disappearing, the Yankees finally missed the playoffs, and our very own Dallas Cowboys are calling the shots in the NFC East (Editor’s Note: I guess we spoke too soon. Sorry guys!). We thought we’d add to the excitement by announcing the details of our next event.

Featured Non-Profit - TEXANS CAN!

We are proud to announce TEXANS CAN! as our featured non-profit for October!

Originally established as Dallas Can!, the founding school served juvenile offenders with remedial education. After 10 years of positive results, TEXANS CAN! was born. Today, their mission is to provide a second chance for at-risk youth and their famlies to achieve economic independence and hope for a better life through relationship-based education and training. They achieve this through their public charter high schools all over the state of Texas.

To get involved, you can volunteer your time by becoming a speaker’s bureau member, helping out with special event or clerical duties, or by becoming a TAAS/TAKS tutor. If time is in short supply, consider making a donation. Either way, your contribution means that TEXANS CAN! can serve more children and families, and continue to expand their services through Texas and beyond.
